Red Bull takes over the streets of Montreal

Red Bull is at it again with another one of their interactive and unique events. The famed Course Red Bull Boîte à Savon is back in Canada and Montreal will finally get a piece of the action. Here is your chance to be a kid again but with all the adult privileges!

Powered by gravity & human spirit alike, teams from all over Canada will race their soapboxes in downtown Montreal on September 6th, 2015.

(If you haven’t ever seen a soapbox race before: I suggest you familiarize yourself with a generational favourite: The Little Rascals.)

Although there will be some more serious entries and aspirations for the race, the event is more about celebrating creativity and ingenuity in a fun and interactive way. But which adrenaline junkie will prevail? Teams will be judged on speed and creativity of their crafts as well as showmanship & spirit for a chance to win some pretty hefty cash prizes.

Montreal will surely be able to provide an interesting course as teams speed down the twists, turns, construction detours and no doubt potholes on the streets of Square Victoria. Maybe someone will even be able to break some world records!

If you can’t picture yourself behind the wheel of one of these road demons, you will still want to come out to the race. Their Soapbox Derbies have been hosted all over the world and have brought out more than 20,000 speed enthusiasts at each event, so this is not something you will want to miss.

What will be the inspiration for your soapbox -a remake of a classic movie? A historical Montreal personality? Or maybe even your a craft based on favourite food? Will you be going to go for more showboating and style points, or speed and innovation?

Don’t have a team together yet? The wonderful folks over here at WRG will begin crafting our own homemade machine shortly, but first- we want your input! Do you fancy yourself an speed junkie or spirited engineer? Or maybe you just want to throw a costume on & help push us down the hill. Either way, you can follow us as we start the process of sketching our crazy concept, building our soapbox, meeting up with other participants to see what they’re planning, and of course- covering the final event in September.

The deadline for applications is on May 25th & there will be a limited number of participants chosen from all of the applicants. So get your creative thinking cap on and start giving your sketches some wings.
