Memories of SXSW – Part One

Back in March we sent our trusted music editor off to the one of the industry’s most famed events. This year was no different than before, thousands of music enthusiasts and industry professionals all made their way to Texas & got an intimate showcasing of their favourite or and up and coming artists.

Follow us as we take a look back into the SXSW’s 28th year through the eyes of @mensathedj….

WRG x SXSW touches down in Austin, Texas! The infamous 6th Street is flooded with music lovers from all corners of the globe. One must be focused in order to navigate through the humanity (and the accumulating drink count, they pour strong shots here). While the big name sponsored events had line-ups going down the block, your boy on the street @mensathedj sought out a more organic turn-up.

At Barcelona, a basement sweatshop lined with wall-to-wall subwoofers, Chicago’s DJ Spinn & Tazo had the crowd doing calisthenics with their trademark brand Juke and Tek. Their resident dancers came in tow and put on a footwork clinic. Nary a dry t-shirt upon exiting.

Across the street at Canada House, the good people of #BEATACADEMYTO had the squad in full force, spearheaded with a showcase hosted by none other than Saukrates. @FRESHKILS & @MEMORECKS had their live pad drumming on blast.

Stay tuned for more memories in Part II…
