IAMSAM EP – The Dream covers Sam Cooke

Atlanta born singer-songwriter The Dream, born Terius Youngdell Nash, released his latest project, IAMSAM, an eight-song EP featuring covers of American born Soul and R&B pioneer and music legend, Sam Cooke.

Cooke helped pave the way for other Soul legends including Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, and many more. Arguably Cooke’s most recognizeable song Change Is Gonna Come, became an anthem for the Civil Rights movement and was repeatedly referenced throught President Obama’s election campaign and was referenced in his 2008 victory speech.

After a notable hiatus from any activity on his social channels, The Dream explains the inspiration for this EP;
“My Mother loved a lot of Artists growing up, but the one we shared the most interest in together was Sam Cooke, so Tonight I give him back to her. These songs were originally recording during the making of Beyonce’s 4 album in 2010 with my good Friend Pat Thrall. My mother passed on the 23rd day of December in 1992.”

The tribute EP is an incredible, touching tribute to two of Nash’s greatest inspirations.
