Joseph Donahue is the creator, designer and fabricator behind the inspired, Über Chair. His vision was to create an artistic piece of ergonomic outdoor furniture, using sustainable and environmentally friendly methods and materials.
He built the Über from the idea that twenty-eight pieces of material bound together is stronger and more flexible than one piece (yes, all those models are the same exact chair). The entire lounge chair was created using only 1.5 sheets of 4×8′ 5-ply birch (a strong, inexpensive and recyclable wood). With such a small quantity of material used, he designed a pattern of organic routing paths to minimize the amount of material wasted.
Joe is such a talented young designer and this chair had us nothing short of screaming “WE WANT MORE!”.
