Nike Innovation Summit 2016 Recap

From Kevin Hart to Marty McFly...Here's what we saw at the Nike Innovation Summit 2016

“What better way to work out than to hear my voice?” – Kevin Hart

This March, Nike inc. invited journalists from around the world to the Nike Innovation Summit, a preview all-new footwear, apparel and technology coming in throughout 2016.

Expanding on the live coverage from our Snapchat, we recap the two day event and share our favorites from the almost dozen new innovations coming throughout this year.

Here are some of the highlights of to come out of the Nike Innovation Summit:

Air Max Vapor – The all air sole fused to a flyknit upper. In our opinion this might be the lightest shoe Nike’s ever made. Designed for runners, it reduces the clunkiness of having to run in heavy shoes.

Free RN Motion Flyknit – This shoe’s sole is made with a geometric pattern that lets the shoe expand and contract in accordance to your foot striking.

LunarEpic – Lunarlon base and a Flyknit mid and upper. The sock-like bootie, similar to the Magista and Mercurial cleats, creates a snug and secure hold on your foot.

Nike+ App – We are most looking forward to the updates to the Nike Running app, which will show improvements in the group components. Allowing you to interact, engage and challenge each other in a more efficient manner. There is also the addition of your own personal store and on demand coaching just for you. Oh yea, and Kevin Hart’s voice.

Rio Olympic kits – The 2016 Summer Olympic teams will be outfitted in kits designed by Nike made specifically for each sport and tailored to the variety of athletes body shapes. We got a chance to get first hand player feedback through chats with US Women’s National Soccer Team player Megan Rapinoe as well as WNBA and US Women’s Basketball player Elena Delle Donne.

HyperAdapt 1.0 – This is exactly what you dreamt of when you thought about the future of shoe design. Self tying shoe has arrived. Designed by Tiffany Beers, Tinker Hatfield, Mark Parker. The shoe will be sold exclusively through the Nike+ app store. Don’t forget to pack your shoe charger!
