The Confessional: I Love You, Man
Each and every one of us wake up each day, take care of our daily responsibilities, go to wherever we call home and sleep only to wake up and repeat the cycle over and over again. Sometimes we are lucky to find people that we are able to surround ourselves with that will have our back for the good times and, more importantly, the bad. These people can come out of nowhere and be people that you’d least expect to be there for you.
I must say that over the past year and a half, and still now, I wake up and I’m learning so much about the world around me. I find that I have been blessed to have found the “bros” that I’m able to call my friends – some I even consider to be the big brother that I never had. The last two weeks especially have been quite turmoil filled with more drama than I’d like to be a part of. As life’s curve balls usually do, it got me thinking…
When we wake up and we do the bump-and-grind of life, instead of focusing on things that aren’t feasible or things that we know will only bring us heartache in the end – we need to focus on the positive things around us. I may be living out of a suitcase not knowing where I may lay my head tonight but at the end of the day I know that I have people, some beefier than others, that care about me and in my eyes that’s all that matters. When we take care of our mind and body we are able to open up and accept positive things into our life. It could be a new job, a new lover or even just a new friend.
Focus on your “now”, take off those who are good to you and steer clear of the many toxic distractions that will constantly try to draw you in. In my gay words, thank you guys for everything that you’ve taught me. I really don’t know where I’d be had I not had your support.
