Paul Labonté, Photographs inspired by the rap music that once inspired me
The latest from Paul Labonté comes in the form of a photo book titled, “Photographs inspired by the rap music that once inspired me.”
This book of photographs is Labonté’s fourth offering. The book is a collection of photographs, spanning the course of the last five years, inspired by the rap music that once inspired him.
Inspired by 1990s New York rap lyrics, Paul often will spit a verse from the iconic ROC era. Likely to be a Cam or Jay verse, you can find him tossing in more current rapper quotables like Young Jeezy, Peedi Crakk, Fab, State Prop and more.
From the shoebox stacked with $250,000 to Glock’s with the serial numbers shaved off, the photos are as authentic as it gets outside of Bed-Stuy. The book also includes an interview with Paul by music journalist Scott Clyke.
The teaser video was shot by Vincent Tsang & Johnny F Kim. Interview/Audio: Scott Clyke
