Maru the Circle Brand Kickstarter

If you’ve been involved in the photography or skateboarding scene in Ottawa in any capacity, you already know just how supportive the community can be. For a city that’s constantly judged for being a boring government town, it’s people like Maru’s founder Andrew Szeto who are making sure that that stereotype is being put to rest.

Szeto’s roots lay in skateboarding, photography, & motorcycling, and the products he has created have certainly reflected those passions. He started the brand back in late 2012 as a way to try to showcase local talent he comes across, at the same time as provide practical quality goods made in North America with a special personalized touch.

This week, the brand announced their Kickstarter campaign to help fund production costs of their latest product, the Photo/Moto Jacket in collaboration with L.C. Manufacturing King , producers of the classic the Pointer Brand jackets over the past 100 years. Maru’s take on the jacket features extra pockets on the interior for camera lenses & batteries, as well as sealed front pockets to ensure you don’t lose anything while riding around the city.

Other recent collaborators include Canadian favourites Raised by Wolves, calligrapher Ricardo Gonzalez Contreras aka it’s a living, and heritage carpenter & artist Drew Mosley.

If you decide to back their Kickstarter campaign, you have the option to save on all of their products which include their signature leather & canvas camera straps (which you can personalize), their logo baseball caps & of course, the new Photo/Moto jacket available in Black, Natural White, or their signature Juniper Green.
