Bugs Re-Branded: The Real Superfood
Eating bugs is not a new thing. There are more than 1900 edible insects on earth, and over 2 billion people include insects in their daily diet- So why is it still so hard for some of us to stomach?
Okay, so it’s a cultural thing. Maybe you find it dirty because they live underground, or maybe it’s just the fact you were brought up to hate bugs. Either way, we need to work on overcoming our fear of creepy crawlers, and improve our standards of food production.
Do you know where your protein comes from and the implications it has on our carbon footprint? The answer to this question can easily change form a negative to a positive if you are conscious of your diet. Even the UN has been urging people to incorporate bugs in their diet.
LIVIN Farm is testing the entomophagy lifestyle market with their latest product, the Hive, a sustainable desktop insect farm for mealworms. With over $65,000 raised on Kickstarter at the time of publishing, and features on TedX, Wired and ABC, it won’t be long before they reach their goal.
