Meet the founder of #MTLCafeCrawl

Photographer Ali Inay, @inayali shares the story behind the instagram phenomenon

The #MTLcafecrawl movement was created by a single instagram photo. Published by postgraduate student Ali Inay as he began the adventure of getting familiar with his new home, Montreal.

Seeking refuge from boring university libraries, he took to hunting down new and unique cafés where he could study. Coming from Ankara, Turkey, Ali was in search not only for a location that provided him with the logistics of the perfect studying environment, tables, chairs, coffee at a three step distance, but an the inspiration that led him to explore different neighborhoods in Montreal.

You might have caught our last edition of the Explorer Series in which we let our city narrate itself. From local hangouts to Montreal food staples to our unique culture. This new edition promises to highlight a whole different vibe of our city.

We continue to explore and share Montreal through the hashtag #mtlcafecrawl. Also, be sure to check out the photo editorials part one and part two shot in Edmonton by photographer Paul Swanson.
