Q: What do you wear these days? Do you like to wear your own designs?
A: I wear a lot of my clothes. When I am working though, I wear a lot of pants, slim pants because I work a lot with my hands, I dye fabrics. I like balloon pants, Punja pants. I also enjoy a very well-cut jacket. I make jackets for myself sometimes, but I have a lot of respect for the tailoring of jackets. There are some people who just do jackets really well.

Q: What is your favorite trend for fall?
A: I love the colorful shoes that have got all kinds of details on them, gold chains on the shoes, pompons. There are crazy shoes going around and I really like that. For a while, the shoes were really plain.

I like everything that is military and I don’t stop liking it, everything that is a re-constructed military look. Have you seen the Comme des Garcons black military coat? It’s amazing. Big bracelets, very funky jewelry.

Some of my favorite handbags right now are the ones from Celine, like the Celine Boston tote luggage bag in black and white or acid green!

Q: Any specific item recommendations?
A: Balenciaga always drives me crazy with the shoes. I am playing Justin Bieber can you believe that? Anyway so for shoes… I love Miu Miu’s Gold and suede peep toe ankle boots and Shakuhachi lace up boot with a gold heel. Look out for the Haider Ackermann designs this fall!

Q: Would you say that you are consciously rebelling against last year’s minimalism?
A: I appreciate minimalism. It is hard to achieve a very beautiful simple dress, it’s got a lot of merit to it. Its not what appeals to me though. I like the more visual aspect because I love to paint. It’s in my system, I need to communicate with textures and I like working on something as if I was working on a canvas, without wanting to sound pretentious.

I like putting something on a dress and arriving at a certain balance that works because that is also constantly learning for me.

Clockwise: Shakuhachi // Lace Up Boot with Gold Heel in Black – $360, Comme des Garçons // Military Coat – $1240, Miu Miu // Glitter and suede peep-toe ankle boots – $890
