Many of us try to be as trendy as possible but do not have the outrageous amounts of money required to purchase designer garments. In light of this predicament we searched the fall/winter 2011-2012 men’s runways to provide you with five trendy looks for a more reasonable price.
Hermès
For fall 2011-2012 Hermès tipped its hat to 80’s preppy chic showing a bulky pale blue turtle neck sweater with a vertical chain knit. This sweater is excellent for the upcoming winter season but, let`s face it, Hermès is not exactly accessible to all of us; Zara offers a very similar knit for far less money. Zara’s Cable knit polo neck sweater is only $79.99 CD while still offering the same look as the Hermès sweater.

Frankie Morello
Frankie Morello is known for its unconventional mix of materials and patterns and this sweater is no different. Although Frankie Morello’s price point is not as outrages as Hermès, it is not readily available in Canada. Zara has designed a comparable jacquard knit cardigan with a similar feel, primarily with its length and bold pattern, for only $99.90 CD.

Marc by Marc Jacobs
Marc’s vintage inspired, stripe Knit looks extremely luxurious which provides a much needed contrast to the dreary grey winter skies; and of course peoples dreary winter clothes. Although Tommy Hilfiger does not have the same reputation for offering lavish fabrics, the label does have a colourful mix stripe vintage inspired knit for $98.00 CD, which would definitely add some colour to your wardrobe.

Yoshi Yamamoto
Yamamoto is known for his eccentric Japanese influenced designs, always creating loose but well tailored garments. This particular sweater doesn’t have an ingenious pattern or knit, but it does provide an example of how sizing could be a creative way of expressing your personal style. This look could easily be recreated with Topman`s brown patterned crewneck sweater for about $70.00 CD; just remember to think big.

D&G
With the recent 60’s/70’s inspired trends we have been seeing on men’s runways, it’s not surprising that cultural ‘pop’ art has made its way back onto our clothes. D&G’s entire fall/winter line pay homage to this trend by borrowing cokes signature logo. This trend seems be here to stay, at least for a couple of seasons, so why not try it out? Urban Outfitters offers a Budweiser sweater that would defiantly emulate a modern twist on a vintage theme and for only $80.00 CD.
