Meet Slussen
The most powerful house-party weapon known to man
The past decade has seen tremendous change in music and DJ culture; gone are the barriers to entry that came with having to bring crates of vinyl to a party. And the Scandinavian headphone collective, Urbanears, is set to open another period of change by bringing the party to the people.
It’s time to stop faking the funk; we all love to share our favorite songs and mixing Youtube videos isn’t going to cut it anymore. DJing house parties just became democratized: allow us to introduce Slussen, the most powerful after-party weapon known to man.
WHAT IS IT?
Slussen, combines a key-chain sized dual audio jack with free software (only on iOS for the moment) to bring you the most powerful DJ kit to ever fit in your pocket.
The Slussen is a game changer– indeed it is the most powerful pocket sized party tool known to humanity.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. Download the free Slussen app from the App Store.
2. Plug in your Slussen into your iOS device.
3. Connect your headphones and sound system to the 3.5mm input/output jacks.
4. Launch the app, select a track and your party just got started.
Mix, scratch, and cue up the next song all from your iPhone, iPod or iPad (be sure to turn your phone on airplane mode to avoid party fouls).
WHAT CAN IT DO?
Urbanears put a lot of development into the Slussen app. It seriously packs a lot of heat in a sleek design and beautiful user-interface.
Slussen allows you to fully control your mix. From tempo, gain, hi, mid, low EQ effects, you can even tap the waveform or ‘push the platter’ as you would on a turntable to jog through a track.
WATCH IT IN ACTION
Seeing is believing and therefore our mission was clear: we set out to field test this latest advancement in the arsenal of house party accessories and push it to the limit to see how it performs under pressure, in real world conditions and not just at a ‘get together’ or ‘pre-drink’.
With the support of Urbanears, Pabst Blue Ribbon and artist collective Do What You Can, we brought Slussen, a whole lot of beer and 200 friends together for one hell of a trial run.
