A Toast to Winter

Spiced Gin Gimlet Drink Recipe

Turn the lights down low, light a couple of candles, invite your snuggle buddy over and try your hand at Dan Lima’s tasty winter cocktail recipe. In his signature style, it’s founded on homemade syrups and fresh seasonal ingredients. Just don’t blame us when you find yourself pouring the clove syrup over everything in your kitchen just to make it taste more “winter-y”.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
1 1/2 dry gin
3/4 lemon juice
3/4 oz clove syrup
5 dashes Fee Brothers cranberry bitters
1 fresh mint sprig
Icing sugar

GETTING PREPPED:
Clove Syrup:
500 ml water
250 ml sugar
2 tablespoons dried cloves

Bring water to a boil. Add cloves let simmer for 5 minutes. Add sugar until dissolved, let cool.

BUILD IN COCKTAIL SHAKER
Add:
Ice
Gin
Lemon juice
Clove syrup
Cranberry bitters
Fresh mint (keep the crown of the sprig for garnish)

Shake hard until chilled. Strain into a lowball glass filled with ice. Place mint sprig on top the drink and finish with icing sugar for a snow on a tree effect. Serve.
