Man’s Best Friend

Fashion has always had a love affair with felines. The proof is demonstrated by the persistence of the leopard print trend over the years and the number of major editorials and ad campaigns regularly featuring cats (Check out the cover of the fall issue of Bazaar or the Marie Claire editorial with the sickeningly cute and praying? cats)

While the fashion crowd undoubtedly loves  cats it now seems to be the dog’s turn to be in the spotlight:

Most notably, Givenchy’s rottweiler sweater has been getting a lot of attention. Since being spotted on Kanye West at the Paris shows, the thousand dollar sweater is sold out almost everywhere and has been a huge hit with the fash pack.

Another option is Balenciaga’s version of the dog shirt. Instead of a vicious growling Rottweiler we have a smiling portrait of a German Sheppard.

The kitsch classic wolf shirt has been reinterpreted by several brands to offer a more figure-friendly and stylish version of the tourist  tee. A favorite incarnation of this trend would have to be the Australian label We are Handsome body suit. The quality of the print and the colors are amazing and the tight fit is a welcome change from the boxy t-shirt the wolf usually appears on.

As a cheaper alternative, you can always just go with the wolf shirt readily available at your local souvenir shop. Extra points if it says Montreal on it.
