Going to apothecary WANT is rare boutique shopping, unseen in Montreal before. The store carries a narrow, yet complete, range of swedish brands – Nudie jeans, Filippa K and Acne – for both men and women; and will be the first store to carry the Parisian line Maison Kitsuné in the fall.
Byron and Dexter Peart, the reknown designers of the store and of the epuré maison line Les essentiels de la vie WANT, wanted to transplant the community feel of a small village store and the particular design of an old pharmacy they visited in Niagara on the Lake. The prodigy infant of the agency WANT, who is the exclusive distributor of those brands in North America, saw the day this summer in Westmount, on the dynamic stretch of Sherbrooke east of Decarie.
Life essentials really are the focus. In the massive living room tables transformed into display tables are WANT ipad cases, passport pouches, wallets, all made in Italy from the best calfskin.
Some named after your journey’s duration, the WANT 24h, 72h bags are functional, disguised laptop bags, unisex and simply beautiful. Not to forget the actual apothecary items neatly put away in big bechers, like the scented candles from Astier de Vilatte and the Aesop line, an Australian company with international clout making the best out of nature and research to create superlative products for skin, hair and body.
Needless to say that sweedish minimalism, parisian class and custom-made antiques is a winning combination.
