Although only a few designers have shown their collections so far we are already beginning to see several trends in menswear for Fall 2012.

Over the past couple of seasons colour has been very prominent, in fall however we see a more somber pallet with pops of dark purples, greens and blues. All three colours are featured in different ways throughout the collections.
VELVET SUITING

Traditionally velvet is not very popular for men’s suiting, but an overwhelming number of labels have used the textile in their designs. The textile is seen in many different colours and is being shown in both casual and formal attire.
OVER-SIZED OUTERWEAR

Over the past several seasons designers have been showing looser fitting apparel and for Fall 2012 this trend continues in outerwear. Many different textures and textiles are being used showing the designers personal spin in the box-cut coat trend.
LEATHER

Although leather is always in style; this season everything from leather accents to leather suits have been seen on the runways. Taking notes from previous women’s collections, menswear designers are adding leather sleeves, ties or pants to their looks

A continuing trend for the fall is looser fitting suits, although it appears that blazers are becoming more tailored and paired with baggier trousers.
Even though fashion seasons and actual climate do not always correlate, foresight into trends can inspire a change in individual style or even enhance it.
