Finally, a midst a sea of fan-made videos and short films by independent filmmakers using his music, we have an official video from The Weeknd himself. This is an interesting piece, I can’t say I like it or hate it but I appreciate the attempt to be unique. I wish they picked another single to drop other than this though. It’s dark and gloomy outside as it is, do we really need a soundtrack? High For This, Party After the Party, The Morning, What You Need, Loft Music… as a filmmaker, these songs evoke so much inspiration to create visuals I’m pretty mystified as to why they chose The Knowing. Then again, every single song on House Of Balloons could easily be used in a film. Did all those fan-made videos spoil it for us? Personally, what it comes down to is that this wasn’t my favorite song, the video is cool for what it is but I hope this release means they have more videos dropping soon.
