The Little Bag That Could

In 1997, Silvia Fendi created a bag so desirable it started a movement in the fashion industry. So much so in fact, that it even helped HBO’s Sex and the City develop quite the cult following amongst the fashionista crowd the world over.

Last Tuesday, Fendi hosted their 15th anniversary party for the Fendi ‘Baguette’, prompting everyone to reminisce about the bag’s fabulous history, including the approximately 1,000 variations of the iconic bag that now exist.

With that many floating around, it’s safe to say that the Fendi ‘baguette’ created a sensation among fashionable women around the world. It drove women to ditch the big cumbersome bags and totes so popular at the time and embrace a smaller more complimentary alternative.

With the baguette’s anniversary comes a long overdue reissue of the tiny bag, which is sure to flip the fashion industry on its head one more time!

The night rounded up quite the crowd of beautiful of people. Among the guests present were Eniko Mihalik (left), Hilary Rhoda (center), Annabelle Dexter-Jones and Harley Viera (right).
