Last week I was in Aspen, Colorado for the Winter X-Games. After a couple hours of high altitude partying, and getting totally f*cking “Stoked”, a few friends and I decided to stumble our way downtown. It wasn’t long until a familiar sound (smell) was in the air. As we turned the corner, we find…The Marley Safe House, what!!?!?

It turns out that the Marley family; yes, as in Bob Marley, have joined together to spread the love and some great new products all over the world. The Marley Safe House was a pretty sweet spot to find. Most of the Marley family was there, singing and chilling, while everyone was sipping this crazy drink and trying on some eye catching ear buds. Luckily I was able to snag a few and test them out this week.

This is Marley’s Mellow Mood. Let just call it the exact opposite of Red Bull, and if you add some booze, you got yourself some SlowLoko! It contains just about every herbal sedative out there, like Valerian Root, Chamomile Extract, and Melatonin. Unlike FourLoko, this actually tastes great. The tea is just as good, if not better then Snapple. The carbonated fruit flavored cans taste like your basic soft drink. Mellow Mood doesn’t knock you on your ass which is good, because the party isn’t fun if you’re asleep. Just like one of Bob’s giant spliffs, it does CHILL YOU OUT. You really feel little waves of euphoria hit within 10 minutes of drinking. I’m all for that! This is definitely going to get interesting when it gets mixed with some good vodka or rum. Get some friends together, throw on the Bob Marley Legend album, or whatever beats you like to chill to, and put all your problems behind you.

The Marley family is also releasing their own line of audio products. According to one of the Marley Bros, “Bob always had a love for music, and more importantly, the Earth and it’s children”.

This new line of House of Marley gear is created using 100% sustainable and recyclable materials, while providing an ultra high quality audio experience. I personally love the way these buds look!

They come in a sweet canvas case, the buds and plug are fitted to FSC-Certified wood grain, built-in volume controls, and the wires have a fabric coating that makes them pretty difficult to get tangled. The sound quality is awesome.

I rarely find ear buds that provide decent bass levels and these did the brain tickling trick! Technically and aesthetically, these are some sweet buds.

They will also have a full line of regular sized headphones, speakers, and one of my favorites of the sneak peak had to be the burlap Roots Rock Boombox that can dock your iPhone/iPod.

Besides selling magical chillax juice and some great audio gear, the Marley family will donate a portion of all proceeds to 1Love.org an organization that is dedicated to supporting charities that empower people to take action for sustainable and responsible living.
