The Best Looks from Expert Grace Lee

Lead make-up artist for Maybelline Canada, Grace Lee, knows what’s up for the hottest trends in make-up. Collaborating with designers for their Fall and Winter lines at World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto, Grace Lee breaks down runway beauty and how we can rock these looks at home.

Holt Renfrew – Smythe & Dennis Merotto

With a focus on the eyes, Grace drew inspiration from Smythe and Dennis Merotto’s edgy, ready-to-wear collection to showcase a dark, smoky eye that looked as if all the models were wearing their makeup over the weekend.

It’s all about looking worn-in so go easy on the foundation. Contour your cheeks with a darker shade of pressed powder, Fit Me Pressed Powder in Deep Bronze ($8, maybelline.ca.) Make sure not to fill in your brows.

Using Maybelline’s Precise Black Eye Pencil ($8, maybelline.ca), line your eyes and fill in your waterline. This gives the effect of a hollow, deep stare. Before the liner dries, smudge the colour up into the crease and all over the lid. To give it that worn- in look, use a clear gloss on top of the lid using a small amount in the center closer to the crease.

Grace uses Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara ($6, maybelline.ca), which gives you volume without the clump and is the perfect pair for a smoky eye. Finish the look with a backstage favourite, Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss ($5, maybelline.ca), giving you the perfect neutral shade to compliment the eyes.

Vawk

Our girl is a worldly traveler who is stuck in the 60’s but ventures back through time as a samurai warrior. Sunny Fong’s kimono-inspired blouses and bold, sequined looks ruled the runway – and so did this look.

Get the look:

Think 60’s MOD. Start with Maybelline’s Fit Me Liquid Foundation ($7, maybelline.ca) for a flawless face, and contour the cheeks with Fit Me Bronzer ($8, maybelline.ca).

For the eyes, boldly outline the inner and outer lash line with Eyestudio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner in Black ($7, maybelline.ca) and extend your outer lash line up and inside the crease to create a traced line of your outer lid. Grace left a small space in the center of the lower-lid to make the eyes really pop. Falsies Mascara works to build volume and give you that full lash look. If you’re not up for the extreme nature of this runway look, tone it down a notch by creating a bold upper-lid line. Grace chose not to apply mascara under the eye, which works for both day-to-day and runway when it comes to opening up that eye.

Finish your look with Maybelline’s Super Stay 14HR Lipstick in Beige for Good ($8, maybelline.ca).
