A brief review on 3 of the headphones available from WeAreTheSuperlativeConspiracy.

Right now I’m listening to: Day N Hypnotize (Plies feat. Akon “Hypnotize” vs. Kid Cudi “Day N Nite (The Crookers Remix)”)

First off, the Oboes are not recommended for anyone with a big melon. I wouldn’t say I have a large head (physically), but after 40 minutes of wearing time, I could feel the pressure on my skull and hears. I could not see myself comfortably wearing these for more than an hour. Maybe your skull is thicker than mine, but these things are TIGHT (literally).

For the end user being someone like myself, music lover not maker, the Oboes are a decent bang for your buck. An hour before trying the Oboes out I was at the gym where my Sony MDR-V150’s seemed like they weren’t going to last as long as I did on the treadmill.

The fact that I was in a busy weight-banging joint compared to my 3rd story empty apartment does weigh in on the decision, but in this comparison, WE > Sony.

Every factor of this review keeps coming back to the price. The sound is good….for the price. The style is good…for the price. Overall these headphones are not the end all be all, or the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they are good enough…for the price.

Unlike most consumer headphones, the Oboes have a DJ style, one ear cup cord rather than the two, it’s also nylon covered cord with a breaking point to add extenders if needed.

Available in multiple colors and co-branded artwork (with or without the steel mesh outer plates) the Oboes are good for anyone needing some fairly decent stylish headgear for under $80.

End User: Casual music lover, Commuter, Budget

Right now I’m listening to: Barbershop Music Mixtape to get an idea of the sound. These are too big for my head, which means they will probably fit yours, I’ve got a small noggin. The cord is mostly coiled, so it can elongate when you need the extra length (that’s what she said) but seriously its designed for DJing and audio functions, not just for looking cool.

The muffs (read: earcups) totally engulf my ears, so no chance of hearing anything going on around you. However, the earcups do flip outward, so you can direct the sound away from your ears while still wearing the headphones.

If you are not a DJ and do no need to worry about levels, BPM, dB … BBIM, TCP/IP… and your not a huge showboat, a cheaper and slimmer model by WeSC, the Bongos will perform amicably as your sound provider and eardrum deprecators. As a DJ, Bagpipes are the only headphone WeSC makes that is club worthy. The levels are fairly well balanced, however, if you’re a serious club DJ, there are other alternatives that offer more bang for your buck. If style is part of your game, the WeSC’s are the best looking pick of the litter.

Price Point: $220
