Victoria Beckham was recently honoured at the British Fashion Awards, and with good reason. The former Spice Girl managed to design a very wearable and ultra-chic collection that was seen on the red carpet worldwide. Although Kanye’s Parisian debut was received with mixed reviews, the musician-turned-designer appears to have a good starting point for his vision. Many of these looks have been seen before, and some of the materials used did seem a little inappropriate for the season. The Olsen twins are known for their unique personal style, an upscale take on the ‘Bohemian chic’. The twins launched The Row in 2007, focussing on tailored women’s clothing, and since have expanded to include menswear. Mary-Kate and Ashley have grown up in front of America and have shown that they have much more up their oversized sleeves. Below: from The Row for S/S 2012.

The Olsen Twins, Kanye West and Victoria Beckham have successfully transitioned to design, but unfortunately some of the greatest fashion flops of the past decade are also due to celebrities’ confidence in fashion; remember Lindsey Lohan or Avril Lavigne’s recent attempt?

Some of the greatest fashion innovators are also celebrities who were initially criticized for their interest in the industry. Although many celebrities have failed to break into the industry, we are sure to see some interesting collections from many stars in the near future.

Kuntzel + Deygas MinuSkull Speakers

Another hand-made speaker from an awesome design duo? We’ll bite. Like the En&Is MegaPhone, the MinuSkull comes in three beautiful colourways (including white and black), but that’s where the similarities end. The MinuSkull is powered Hi-Fi audio that accepts input from any source of sound you care to plug into it and works on its own or in conjunction with other units. It was created by designers Kuntzel + Deygas and more info is available here.

Vans Sk8 Hi Tech Pack

It looks extremely similar to the standard Vans Sk8 Hi, but the Sk8 Hi Tech has been toughened up something mean. That includes a heavy woven and leather upper, waxed laces, better sealing and an inverted version of Vans’ famous waffle sole. Colourways are black and loden, and you can check them out at the Vans site or at DQM.

HUF Holiday 2011 Lookbook

Yes, it’s another Holiday 2011 Lookbook, but this one has been shot against an amazing Turkish backdrop by the Huf team during a trip in Cappadocia. You’ll get immediately why we say that photographer Brian Kelley has accomplished an unreal look to these pictures. The lookbook can be seen here, and the collection itself can be viewed here.

Nike Vintage Blazer Hi

The second classic shoe for this weekend’s recap is the Vintage Blazer Hi. This reissue of a basketball sneaker from 1973 is made from premium ballistic nylon and vulcanized rubber, and we must say, it is looking pretty snappy. The other colourway is red. The Vintage Blazer Hi is available to order here, and will be shipping in January.

Let’s admit it, something about Christmas songs makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside.  So feeling very festive in full of all that holiday cheer and whatnot, I compiled a list of our favorite Christmas songs that I either find to be classic or pretty awesome. I can’t promise the rest of my WRG? crew will agree with my choices here but Music Monday is my baby so here we go.
WARNING THIS IS OUR CHEESIEST MUSIC POST TO DATE AND THE ONLY ONE WE WILL EVER DO.

1. Kanye West – Christmas In Harlem (CyHi Da Prince & Tenya Taylor)
Kanye made a Christmas song and no surprisingly, it’s good. Missing Christmas in Harlem….

2. Wham! – Last Christmas
A song about Christmas heartbreak that has an awesomely cheesy so very 80′s video to go along with it.

3. Trans-Siberia Orchestra- Christmas Eve in Saravejo (or Carol of The Bells)
If you’re unfamiliar with these guys, familiarize yourself. They’ve created quite a name for themselves redoing classical Christmas tunes and adding a heavy metal electric guitar sound.  I chose this YouTube vid of it because well, I want this to be my house.

4. Johnny Cash – Silent Night
One of the only country artists I would ever think to put on our site is this guy ( I love him).  Back in the day, Mr. Cash would host Christmas shows with his family.  Here is a clip of him singing with the 6 daughters that he had between him and June Carter Cash.

5. Alvin and The Chipmunks – The Christmas Song
When I listen to this, I’m five again.

6. Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmas Time
Gotta love computer graphics circa 1979.

7. John Lennon- Merry Christmas (War Is Over)
Leave it to Mr. Lennon to make a great Christmas song that is also anti-war.  Timeless.

8. Rudolf The Red- Nosed Reindeer – Silver and Gold
THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE narrated by one of the most iconic voices of Christmas songs, Burl Ives.   Shows a timeless story… we all love our bling.

9. The Jackson 5- I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Afros, an iconic group of brothers and a song about a kid seeing their mom cheating on their pops.

10. Eartha Kitt- Santa Baby
Many ladies have done versions of this songs, but nothing is like Miss Kitt’s. MEOW! =^..^=

Yes, I went there with this. The video starts with Gary Coleman and switches between the “heartthrobs” in a sled in front of a greens creen to homeless people covered in dirt to a party around a tree with girls in miniskirts. Oh the days of boybands… I dedicate this to you Flimsey Goods .  Why you ask? Why not.

The guys behind ‘WE ARE FROM LA’ made a really cool animated gif video for the song.  It features cameo appearances by Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Megan Fox, Oprah, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, Justin Bieber, some instrument playing cats and many many more celebs (we could literally go on for like 2 pages… they’re all given credit at the end of the video).

A name you may have heard or a face you may have seen, Ibn Jasper is one of those unique individuals that manages to always stay on top of things at his own pace.

Most known for his relationship with Kanye West, many people credit Ibn as one of the most talented barbers in the game. More than that however, Ibn definitely has his own approach and outlook on the day to day, and you’ll probably catch him riding through the city on his skateboard or bike. illRoots caught up with Ibn in Los Angeles as he took them down Fairfax to some of the most well-known streetwear shops in the country, including Diamond Supply Co. with Nick Tershay. Learn more about Mr. Jasper and what makes him tick.

The long awaited and much anticipated teaser of the ’video painting’ for Kanye’s single Power has arrived. Taking inspiration from the frescos in Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, the visuals attempt to illustrate a grand empire on the brink of collapse no thanks to its own excess, decadence and corruption. Now, if you want to go even further with the old world references, we can talk about the Sword of Damocles hanging precariously in the background. (I knew listening in english lit would pay off one day…) The story of course being that Damocles, a fourth century courtier of sorts, was given a taste of what it was like to rule for a day by the tyrant Dionisus. He loved the power so much  that he didn’t to give it back when his 24 hours were up. That is until he looked up and saw a sword, the sword, hanging by a single horsehair over his head. Both the sword and the frescos are pretty solid embodiments of the song, illustrating the percariousness of fame and power. It’s almost foreboding… Love him or hate him, Kanye’s got some interesting ways to tell a story. The full yet to be titled album is due out on November 23, 2010.
