Know?Show (Spring/Summer 2012)

KNOW?SHOW, Canada’s premiere lifestyle tradeshow, has returned to Vancouver, B.C. this week for an early preview of the top trends in fashion, lifestyle and action sports for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 season.

Over 300 brands could be found under the roof of the Vancouver Convention Centre all ready to show-off to distributors, retailers, and media (few), the newest fashions; There was no shortage of American and international brands, but great emphasis was put on brands such as Native Shoes, Lifetime Collective, Sitka, Herchel Supply and Gentle Fawn, whom have been making an impression on the Canadian lifestyle industry for a few years now.

Those in attendance were greeted with a great time “poolside” and in the media gifting lounge and bar, where one had the choice to get groomed at the Barber Shop (Franks’s Chop Shop, NYC) or pampered with a free manicure at the Seychelles & BC Footwear booth.

Three Monkeys has been around just about as long as we have. Last year they moved into a brand new location still inside Cours Mont-Royal mall and still carry local designer collections. They’ve got some of the best looking staff you’ll find anywhere in the city beating out just about everyone including American Apparel. Three Monkeys also throws some dope parties and some of the more creative in-store events in town.

Being eleven years old for a retailer is a feat. Many go out of business or quit, others expand and sell out to survive. Off The Hook has done neither, and it’s paid off. Arguably the most popular Montreal streetwear retailer, Off The Hook is a Mom & Pop operation minus the mom & pop. Owned by two cousin’s Harry and Angelo and run by a hand picked crew of the youngest and brightest in the city, OTH has done the caterpillar-to-butterfly evolution several times over constantly introducing the city to what’s next. One of the only must visits in the city, if you don’t find something you want to take home, you’ll be schooled musically or get the scoop on what parties you should be hitting up while you’re in town.
