Seldom are events for retail stores so well organized and executed that an invitee, or partygoer leaves feeling not only satisfied but genuinely impressed with the night’s affair. The Fake vs. Original party last week celebrating the collaboration of Style Exchange and Little Burgundy shoe store went off without a hitch. Open to public in store at the brand new Queen Street West location, the party’s theme was “Original Vs. Fake”. With an invitation that dared you to attend the party as your real self or an embellished version, on site a little help in making that decision was readily avaialble. A fake eyelash bar offering free services stood right next to the new Spring 2012 Lil Burgundy collection (including the drool worthy shoe seen above), while nearby a nail bar got you thinking that you probably need a manicure.
DJ Miss Cotton spun pop-tastic tunes while the who’s who of Toronto’s young fashion elite, tastemakers and media personalities hovered around a table offering a variety of candy treats (thank you, Halloween) and an open bar boasting the likes of Ontario beer Steam Whistle, red and white wine. Having their very own “Katy Perry” and “Lady Gaga” drag show halfway through the event felt more like a night out, than a run-of-the-mill shopping party.
Style Exchange and Little Burgundy begun this brilliant collaboration in Montreal the summer of 2009; two Canadian retailers offering 2 seamless shopping experiences in 1 place. The move to open this same joint store on Toronto’s trendy, high shopping traffic Queen West was clearly the next step.
Open now, check out the new Style Exchange & Little Burgundy at 326 Queen St. West in Toronto.
