Stussy launched it’s Toronto Chapter store on March 15 2008. Since then it’s location has been most noted as “where Goodfoot is”, a popular shoe emporium.
The building located on the southwest corner of Richmond at Spadina also features Nomad and Ransom.
Stussy, Inc. is a California-based clothing company noted for trendsetting urban street wear and has been so since the Stussy brand was incorporated in 1984 (originated 1980). It was Shawn Stussy who started the Stussy brand by stamping it on surfboards. This symbol is now found on surfboards, skateboards and snowboards and all corresponding apparel.
The unmarked exterior black building, located close to busy Queen West shopping area but not directly in it, portrays the same exclusivity of its merchandise. Production runs are limited and Stussy continuously collaborates with artists, other companies and causes to produce limited edition swag.
For the Stussy’s 30th birthday, they teamed up with Richo to co-brand a GR Digital III. The only specs that you would care to know about for this $950.00 camera (only available at chapter stores 500 made, 2 at the Toronto location), are 10MP with 4x digital zoom, max 1600 ISO with a 3″ LCD display. Bonus: Stussy fonts and blue.
Even more exclusively, Stussy produces limited edition t-shirts that are not sold in store. In collaboration with Ransom, the 3rd shirt to be produced, represents the “Free Wayne” / “Free Weezy” movement. It was promoted at the Free Weezy night at Savoy on Queen West. DJs Famous Players and Ghetto Gold Matt.
