I ran off to Costa Rica a few months ago and after a few days of playing in the waves, I decided I was going to become a pro surfer. I figure if I can get up on the board in the first hour of trying, it’s meant to be.

[Just like when I was 18 and I convinced myself that a few successful ollies meant that I'd be the most bad ass girl skater around...]

So while I’m waiting on that dream, a friend was nice enough to share this video with me and now I’m just itching to get back in the water.

On a slightly sad note, the gorgeous beach I spent most of time at while I was there, Playa Grande, became the resting place for a giant beached whale recently… Beautiful example of a community coming together.

I also highly recommend the area for anyone with a hankering for a generally tourist-free Costa Rican vaca. Just go to Tamarindo and hop over an estuary a few minutes walk away.
