P.B.R. Goes Fancy For China
Milwaukee based Pabst Blue Ribbon lager (affectionately called P.B.R.) is known as the beer of choice for hipsters who are so “trendy” that they drink the same super cheap beer as mid-western blue collar workers. It tends to be the lowest priced beer on the shelves and most people’s minds, it could never be esteemed as a pricey or a ”nice” beer.
Until now.
Apparently Chinese people love trophies and ribbons so the Chinese distributor who got the licensing for it outfitted it in a fancy glass bottle with a just as fancy label and a new snazzy name. P.B.R. “Blue Ribbon 1844″ has been advertised in China as “world famous spirit” to be savored from a champagne flute. A champagne flute? Really? Anyway, if you’re in China and nothing but a P.B.R. will quech your thirst, you’re going to have to drop some cash on this because one bottle goes for $44USD. Above is the advertisment being shown in China.
