“The next thing I know I was filling out paperwork for corporation, and I was like woah where did this come from?”
All of the TMG flower children better thank they’re lucky halos that Michelle first ever decided to tie flowers to a leather string while prepping her outfit for A Phish concert in Atlantic city this summer.
Keeping to the OTW focus of reporting on emerging talent, we present to you a young designer, Michelle Madonna or That Madonna Girl (TMG).
Embarking on a difficult journey into the fashion industry, TMG embodies a free-spirited beauty that every girl covets. This accessory is unique to the bubbly easygoing young woman whose lifestyle is mirrored in her designs, “I love that whole flowerchild vibe. I love to dress laid back, you know, just like hippy chic,” she told us over a quick Skype session.
Hot off the wake of New York Fashion Week, the industry is always buzzing about which designer is the one to watch this upcoming year and although TMG didn’t hit this year’s runways, she definitely showed a strong presence all week long. It’s no surprise her talent is making major waves, her halos have already crowned the luscious locks of a plethora of celebrities. We were floored when she nonchalantly revealed to us, “June 10th was my official day”. After having started a mere 4 months ago, she’s been featured in Style Saves (Miami), Electric Zoo Festival (NYC), she showed her collection at Daily Style Sessions during NYFW, as well as being featured at Size Matters concert in Central Park on September 22nd. The results? Not only has her collection grown to 23 unique halos, you can find her halos on the likes of none other than Linday Lohan, Nicole Richie, Shenae Grimes, Paris Hilton and even some of our favourite (okay, favourite to hate on) Housewives of New York.
So now that we’ve got you hooked on TMG, you’re wondering where to get them, eh? You can browse the TMG shop on her website or if you’re lucky enough to live near Skiffingtons Boutique in Rhode Island or Miami you can just go hit them up. There’s also some lucky fashionistas in Kuwait who can rock their halos thanks to a boutique that just received a whole shipment of halos. If you live in NYC, check out Shop Jeen who has a showroom that will allow you to visit, meaning you can go into the showroom and try on your own halo!
What’s next for TMG?! “I’m going on tour with Bounce Music Festival and they do tour dates all in warm areas of the country in like Florida.” She finished our Skype convo before jetting off to a NYFW party, by saying, “I mean its a lot of work but it’s like mad fun, so I don’t mind doing it,” and for making whimsical femininity utterly chic, we tip our halos off to you.
