Oakley Safehouse Vancouver 2010
We’ve been sitting on this footage for a while now, and had to wait until the Olympic buzz died down a bit to safely show this. Since 1996, Oakley has invested in a safehouse for their athletes from around the world to come and hang, relax, repair and re-stock during the Olympic games.
Every two years, months before the games, Oakley’s marketing team heads out to scout for a central yet quiet location for them to set up a lounge, kitchen, games, computer/internet area, and most importantly a repair and supply station to get the newest and the best eyewear in the game.
The IOC is a brand like any other and that means all official Olympic Oakley branded eyewear, glasses and goggles have logo limitations and Olympic certified colorways.
This means that the pair you bought at home, isn’t exactly like the pair that Alexandre Bilodeau wore on his gold medal run. Every pair here is made on the spot to each athlete’s specifications, which can change daily based on lighting and weather conditions.
The Oakley team held it down, take a look as we caught up with them in the safe house and made our own Team Canada shades.
