As NYC Fashion Week winds down a few trends emerge among designers. The main trends are carring on from the S/S 2012 shows and most collections remain heavily influenced by the late 70′s. Although colour and prints are seen in almost all labels, a few new trends are emerging.
MEN’S SUITING

Men’s tailoring on women’s suits is not entirely a new concept, but the silhouette and tailoring is becoming much more feminine and form fitting unlike the more retro feel in seasons past. Some designers are beginning to experiment with differnt textiles expanding on the trend.
BLACK AND WHITE

Black and white combinations are making another comeback this fall. Though this trend is never really ‘out’, designers are focussing on showing stark contrasts between the two colours rather than using the combo in geometric prints or polkadots.
BROWN LEATHER

This trend is very much in tune with the 70′s movement in fashion. A few designers have shown brown as the new black, either pairing it with black leather or creating an entirely new look replacing black all together.
LEATHER AND KNITS

Leather has been seen on coats, hats, skirts and more over the last couple of seasons. For F/W 2012 leather is paired with knits creating both casual and edgy looks.
The major trends remains 70′s inspired, but many of these emerging trends allow for a much more playful interpretation of the already colourful decade.
