Music Monday…80Kidz

80Kidz? Is that a band? Who would choose such an odd name? In preparation for my upcoming move to Asia, FEED ME ASIAN MUSIC.

Formed in 2006, 80Kidz is Japanese electro duo (‘Ali&’ and ‘Jun’) from Tokyo. Alas, a lot of the information I found on them is in Japanese, which looks like complete gibberish to my poor, untrained eyes…

On thing I find so interesting since starting my search for good asian music, is how Asia has not yet jumped on the European and North American EDM bandwagon. Though from what I was able to decipher, 80Kidz have apparently performed with the likes of Justice, Boys Noize and Hot Chip – pretty cool!  

Question: is this considered JPop?

Either way, my friend just dropboxed me 2 of their albums and I am REALLY feeling a ton of their songs. Below I’ve included my top 5 so far. What do you think? There are both indie tracks as well as delicious EDM ones.
