For someone who doesn’t/never has worked in marketing, I still seem to have dubbed myself an EXPERT of advertising. I’m sure you’ve all been there, the moment a crappy commercial comes on and you ask yourself, “Whoever let this get through production and onto my TV screen, should be fired”. Don’t act like you didn’t judge every print ad in that 916 pages of the September issue of Vogue. Listen, we all do it … so just own it. That being said, being the perky optimist that I am, I’d much rather chuckle/awe at the marvels of wonderful marketing instead of dwell on the bad.
Clever and witty advertising … hmmm, is there anything better? (I’m a giggle junky). Luckily Montreal has it’s moments and my lovely friend Leslie has managed to capture them on her iPhone for me to share with y’all.
So here goes:
This adorable Allegra ad coins the slogan “Don’t miss out on the end of summer” by using it’s own poster paper as tissue … too cute.

We all know in Montreal July 1st equals MOVING DAY. So Ikea’s clever marketing concept to put up free cardboard boxes in the days preceding that event is pretty much awesome… Kudos Ikea, kudos.
Who doesn’t love prop-marketing?!? Let’s be honest, even if you don’t like Coors (because you’re a “Seasoned” beer drinker … or so you tell your friends) you’re definitely going to want to step inside this spaceship looking contraption to see what it’s all about. Now, anything that gets people talking is good advertising in my books. Oh and a “cooling off” station in the middle of the sweltering summer? WIN.
