Marathon Woman

What a food marathon I ran this past weekend! Starting with the in-laws arrival on thursday from Austria up until Sunday evening’s visit to La Coupole, all I’ve been doing is going from meal to meal!

Wait, does that sound like I’m complaining? I’m not. Let’s revue what’s been ingested, shall we?

THURSDAY
Dinner: leek//mushroom//ham//cheese quiche with green salad and roasted peppers (Cooked by me, for the in laws. Slightly stress-inducing, but it all turned out fine save for a slightly over cooked quiche crust… grr…)
Drinks: 2 bottles of red wine, one bottle of white
Desert: varied cheese plate with 2 baguettes

FRIDAY
Breakfast: cereal and tea (the usual, I was home alone at this point)
Lunch: pâte feuilltée stuffed with tomato followed by a coffee (lunching by the office with the coworkers)
Dinner: coquilles saint jacques and fresh pasta followed by quail and green salade
Drinks: 2 bottles of white, one bottle of red
Desert: varied cheese plate with 2 baguettes followed by chocolate tart, and chocolate-pear tart

SATURDAY
Breakfast: skipped (oops!)
Lunch: lox salad//indian slade//fresh goat cheese salade
Dinner: shrimp on a bed of greens (garlic//lemon dressing) followed by magret de canard flavoured with orange zest
Drinks: beers, one bottle of white, one bottle of red
Desert: varied cheese plate followed by a lemon tart

SUNDAY
Breakfast: pain au chocolat with a cappucino//hot chocolate
Lunch: fresh pasta with mushrooms//carrots//onions with green salade and an olive dressing
Dinner: fresh oysters followed by foie gras and crotin de chavignol followed by salmon on a bed of market vegetables//steak tartar//grilled rumsteak
Drinks: gin tonic//white wine kir//red wine//2 bottles of spakling water//one bottle of white wine
Desert: mango/lime soupe with coconut ice cream//mixed fruit dish with custard//Guanaja chocolate moeleux

… So like I said: no complaints. Just happy reminiscing and enough food to make your head spin! I will also say that there was a point last night, in between the foie gras and the arrival of my salmon (after our dégustation of I can’t even remember how many oysters) where I wasn’t sure if I’d actually be able to finish my meal. Head literrally spinning, stomach slightly churning. White wine to the rescue! A few sips and I was back in action! Thank goodness. The desert was too good to miss out on.

Below are a few snaps of what we munched on all weekend. The last picture features some of the goodies that the in-laws brought us over from Austria. Cheese stuffed saussages, and chocolate goodies. SO GOOD but I don’t think I’ll be devouring either any time soon… I’m still recovering from all the cheese. So. Much. Cheese… #YUM
