On the heels of Toronto’s Caribana festival last weekend, Nike dropped a Quickstrike model of the Hyperfr3sh appropriately dubbed ‘Soul of Calypso’. The Hyperfr3sh shoe is a basketball inspired lifestyle shoe, sharing similar outsole, footbed and lightweight properties as the Nike Roshe One.
The sportswear goliath has gained a reputation for their SMU’s, Special Make-Up’s, of sneakers localized to cities or tentpole events, more commonly in the US and European markets.
The debut of the colorway designed around a Canadian cultural celebration is both a nod to a growing importance of the Canadian market (thanks Drake,) as well as good litmus test for forecasting opportunities around the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend in Toronto.
We felt it was only appropriate to visit our local Trinidadian restaurant for the photos and of course a roti & cola champagne.
