It’s Music Monday and I mean BUSINESS

What’s up WRG readers?

My name is Jesse and I am the newly-appointed Music Monday writer. I am honoured to be writing for such a legit magazine – a huge thanks goes out to Flimsey Goods, you know I adore you and your pink socks. 99% of the music I post is new but some isn’t, I just happen to love it. Be sure to check back every Monday and if you can’t possibly live without new music every second of the day (like myself), check out my blog www.theelectronictonic.com from Tuesday to Saturday. Boom.

I can’t think of anything better to write about, I just love music. It’s that completely head over heels, can’t-eat, can’t-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kind of love. I wake up to Dubstep, I go to sleep to Trance and…more Dubstep. I am a Bassnectar, Skrillex and Armin van Buuren groupie, I am fascinated by the Kandi Raver culture (although I do not wear the furry boots, I just observe) and I like long walks on the beach. My EDM family resides in Washington, DC and I hope to move to the States soon so I can pursue my career in professional raving. Anyone feel like going to Never Never Land with me? Yes, that is a joke. Sigh.

Anyways, just listen to the crazy month I have ahead of me: Tiesto this Thursday, Dada Life this Friday, Kaskade June 16th, Albin Myers June 21, Porter Robinson, The M Machine and Mat Zo on June 23, Gareth Emery June 24, Afrojack June 26, Sander van Doorn July 1, Skrillex, Pretty Lights, Diplo (etc) July 15 and Pryda July 22. THAT IS JUST A BIT OF WHAT IS GOING ON. I didn’t even include Markus Schulz, Paul Oakenfold or tons of other insane shows in there!

While I do love regular music (Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and pretty much anything on the Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list), my heart truly belongs to EDM. It makes me feel as if I am being swaddled in a warm blanket. While that may seem like a weird and creepy scenario since I am 23, I just don’t know how to else express the joy EDM gives me. It is just pure love and THAT, my friends, is what I am all about. Without further ado, I hope my first post knocks your motherfucking socks off.

Rave on,

J

Solidifed by Gramatik is not new but I am listening to it right now and those wub wubs had me at….wub (hahaha). FUCK YESSSSSSSSSSS, this is some dirty, grimey music.

Alright already, who is this MitiS? Joe Torre, AKA MitiS, is a Dubstep/Drumstep/Electrohouse DJ. He was raised as a classical pianist and has since melded the classical and the new. I LOVE this quote of his:

I find myself unable to stop making phat basses, heavy beats, and throwing melodies into the mix… I Can’t think of anything else more appetizing; It’s the new age Classical.

Madeon’s Finale is going to be a masterpiece. I am completely obsessed with the preview and have posted about it about 5 times already. If you haven’t seen it, buck up and watch it in its entirety.

Sensation is coming to NYC!! THIS. WILL. BE. LEGENDARY. Sensation reminds me of how EPIC Montreal’s Bal en Blanc was, but on a WAY huger scale. WOW, loving the pyrotechnics. No word yet on the lineup but we can be SURE that it will be the usual heavy hitters. Tickets go on sale June 8th. Brooklyn, October 26 – 27…get your white on.

Is it time for some trance? I like to call it TRAUNCE because whenever Armin says it for his show, A State of Trance, it sounds as such. Oh Armin.

Who here uses Hype Machine? Does it ever piss you off that you found such a great track but you CAN’T download it? Open Google Chrome and here is the solution. It is a Chrome extension and works like a charm.
