HBO is one of the few brands who is actually has their fingers on the pulse of youth culture. From salvaging The Wire a few years ago by leaking the episodes online, to setting up launch parties for Rome, The Wire and more, HBO consistently hits the nail on the head.

Their newest venture, How To Make It In America, (think of it as Entourage in NYC) kicks off February 14th is being launched alongside a mixtape by none other than mixtape king, DJ Green Lantern.

The mix features some of the most relevant artists across a spectrum of genres from Jadakiss to Chromeo, from Yacht to Junkie XL.

The pilot episode has been leaked online and now officially through Youtube (USA Only) the show stars lots of unknowns that you may recognize from smaller roles, and also stars Kid Cudi, who hosts the Green Lantern mixtape.

There’s a lot of hype on this show right now, but unlike other HBO pilots, How To Make it in America just resonates as knockoff of Entourage, which may be good for Entourage fans as the past two seasons have been overly redundant.

The mixtape track selection is incredible, the mixing itself is pretty awful tho. Green Lantern usually delivers a much higher quality product. (Download the mixtape here.)
