High Gas Prices, Why Art Thou?

Odious clouds of smog are costing more to make these days. The majority of eligible Canadians voted for it too – twice. Once for Rob Ford and once for Stephen Harper. Each ballot inked with a Conservative checkmark meant the cost of fuel would climb to such great heights.

The Conservatives, Oil barons, and Auto kings co-mingle, converse, and campaign politically with a singleness of mind: cars and gas are to be the centre of economic growth.

With the 167 total ridings secured, the Conservatives, the Party of the Oil Slick, now the parliamentary majority, has to return the favor by making sure the oil patch that bolstered the Conservatives is duly remunerated.

(Southern Ontario is solidly Conservative; the Conservative government owns a solid car company—General Motors)

Alberta is the soiled cauldron of investment and growth in Canada fueled above all by oil exports to the United States. Alberta and Saskatchewan vote unswervingly for the Conservative Party of Canada

Resembling in business culture the fourth circle of hell, Alberta is so rich from oil that its benefactors have passed the threshold for giving a fuck about polluting the province.

They deny it occurs and they mock its significance. When the soil is irretrievably spoiled, all the Albertans can do is make excuses for it and smiling approvingly at their climbing gross domestic product.

Prime Minister Harper represents Calgary-Southwest. But PM Harper is also the leader of a government that owns 14% of General Motors Canada of which the government hopes to see rise like the beast of the apocalypse.

A majority parliament for Stephen Harper means Alberta Oil and Southern Ontario Auto have established themselves as the twin turbines of economic propulsion. General Motors has just posted their largest quarterly profits in 11 years.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is fraternally and paternally related to the Conservative Party of Canada, not least the part-time Nathan Lane devotee, Canada’s own Minister of Finance, Jim Flaherty who solemnly eulogized Mayor Tomato’s father. Flaherty represents Whitby-Oshawa, home of the juddering giant itself, the main assembly plants of General Motors Canada.

(Taken from the hilarious Frank Magazine: Conservative Jim Flaherty on the left; actor Nathan Lane on the right…I think)

The Conservatives – whose intelligence and financing comes from Alberta Oil capital and who own of a car company – are exalted by committed Toronto Mayor for whose mission it is to decongest Toronto parkways while bolstering the car industry and its polluted culture.

A high gas price means the consumer’s money is pipelined right into Alberta oil profits. They get a bigger chunk of the pie and a higher percentage of the total surplus made in Canada on a given day, month, or quarter; with all the voter consent they could produce no less!

Oil barons used to be cool for engaging in cutthroat capitalism at its uppermost bad-ass. But stone-cold assassination has been swapped for the domesticated drone of Stephen Harper and our own overly fertilized and sewn Mayor. The Barons bestowed us There Will Be Blood; what cinematic work could possibly be left in the future with Stephen Harper as the protagonist? Perish the thought.

The majority has spoken, the Toronto Mayoral elections and the Federal election confirm it, a high gas price is exactly what the majority asked for. Routinely, they will now complain.
