For a second there we almost thought we’d be wearing goggles all summer what with an unusual amount of rain! Luckily, the sun has come out and its time to protect our peepers. In style, of course.
Tired of seeing everybody in Wayfarers? Us too.
Spring/Summer 2011 has showered us with endless sunglasses style possibilities. Try something different (it wont kill you, we promise.)
Making a huge comeback this season (thanks Madmen) are the retro cat eye shades.
Gucci’s version is easy to pull off, with a wide lens and only a hint of cat-eye shape. If you want something a little more pronounced, Tom Ford’s “Nikita” are the way to go.

If you want a pair of shades that make waves, or you simply feel like letting your inner Gaga out – try a pair with a little more flair. There are a plethora of labels that are turning sunglasses is into works of art (deco). Jeremy Scott’s S/S11 runway featured Linda Farrow’s winged version and they are super-fly, while Prada is stepping the shade-game up so high you may feel inclined to frame your, er, frames.

Still kicking from last summer are the Lennon frames – originally small round lenses on a wire frame, these shades now come in different shapes and (more wearable) sizes. Good ol’ H&M carries them both in acetate and the wire frame variety. Effortlessly cool, and just the right amount of hippie chic. And of course, cool-girl highly coveted label Proenza Schouler doesn’t disappoint with the tortoise shell oversize super round frames. It’s okay to drool.
