Girl Talk, 28 year old Pittsburgh native Gregg Gillis, is famed for throwing full throttle dance party parades. At the age of 28, Gillis under the name of Girl Talk, has released 4 Albums (most noted Night Ripper, 2006, and Feed the Animals, 2008), numerous remixes and compilation appearances, and was heavily featured in the documentary RiP!: A Remix Manifesto.
Girl Talk has preformed in Toronto at the Spin Gallery in 2006, Kool Hause in 2008, Ryerson University Frosh party on Center Island in 2009, and in 2010 packed the Sound Academy which holds 3,230 bodies of sweaty fist pumping insanity.
As always the crowd engulfed the stage in a blaze of flesh, neon, plaid and sweat. In addition to the sweaty mix-master music maker Gregg Gillis on center stage, skilled hype girls operating air-blowers T-P’d the crowd in a spectacle of opalescent streams of soft light. Much love for the ladies trying to cool us down with the high powered hand fans and dry us off with the (spare no expense) 3 ply TP.
Girl Talk brings out an eclectic crowd of buoyant music lovers with an unwritten “must love to sweat” party clause. The mash-up style of music promotes the sing along best liners by sampling small bits of popular tracks from the 80s, 90s and now.
Other than the tangible feeling of awesomeness that radiates off of the dude you are sure to be soaked in his sweat. Notice, no headphones… freedom to let the head banging beats fly wild. Listen below.
