Furthur: A Trippy look at the Acid Tortoise Frogskins

The reference of the mis-spelt Furthur is an homage to The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, a late 1960s novel by Tom Wolfe. The loosely nonfiction book follows a group of hippies across the United States in a school bus nicknamed Furthur, a misspelling of the word which was painted on the bus’ placard.

Oakley’s latest Frogskin release, the Acid Tortoise collection offers five color variations of their iconic frame. The collection is available now in Orange, Red, Black, Blue, and Green.

The book also references early Acid Tests performed by the Grateful Dead. A film adaptation has been in the works for several years but still has no set date to start production.
